Additional Info:	I have taught high school English in Calgary since 1989 and have been, since 1994, at a demanding and results-focused NW high school that has IB and ESL. I make the study of English/Language Arts rewarding, interesting, and fun. I am also an experienced marker and a published author and editor, so I know the reading and writing skills your child needs; more importantly, I know how to teach them so that your child gets enthused about reading and writing and is ready for both portions of the Diploma Exam. It is never too early to work on these skills and prepare for this test, especially now that more ELA departments in both systems are styling their 20-1 and even 10-1 Final Exams on the 30-1 Diploma. My experience, knowledge, insight, and materials make the study of ELA interesting, rewarding, and informative. I have learned how to take a course that might be perplexing for some students and make it interesting and enjoyable. More importantly, I have learned how to make them effective readers and writers. Please call to interview me, discuss your student's needs, and ask me how I can turn him or her into a motivated reader and eloquent writer. We all know English is a different beast, and mastering it, as a tutor and a pupil, requires experience. Thus, practice, at least in this regard, does not make perfect; it only makes your child memorize, so make sure the correct things are being practiced. I can lessen the severity of this learning curve by sharing, in a fun way, my insight in the vital areas of grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, and word choice/usage. In it, I will teach your student, with no cost or obligation, two simple but effective writing techniques and one vital reading technique. I am taking only six new students this semester.
