Additional Info:	Hi. My name is Lydia and I'd like to tell you a bit about myself. I have taught in the classroom for a period of twenty years since I first graduated. I have worked in regional private and public schools in Australia and in a language centre overseas. I can therefore claim considerable experience in a number of sectors where priorities and preferences in education can vary and so that I am flexible and adaptable in my professional approach to teaching. I also keep in mind primarily the welfare and academic achievements of the students at heart. During my time as a casual/substitute teacher I have delivered as well tutoring over the same period of time in being fully committed to working additional hours to assist students of all age groups with their literacy and numeracy skills. I have worked as well with a government funded initiative 'An Even Start' in teaching a number of children whose families were covered with the cost of professional tutoring over a nominated period of time. This was primarily set up for students indicating they required additional support in one or both of these key learning areas after their participation in the periodically conducted and nationwide Naplan tests. I strongly believe I can offer a lot of practical academic experience to students in setting an excellent example to each of them through demonstrating my strong work ethic. I do this as well by encouraging them to develop the required confidence to think independently. This concept, I think can be achieved through, my thorough, caring and comprehensive guidance so that each student will, over time, acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfil their aspirations and ambitions toward their chosen profession either through securing employment and/or tertiary study. I am very much approachable especially in my role as a tutor in personalising the way I communicate with students by taking into account their interests in addition to their academic requirements. I am too ‘a true professional’ in being assertive about my expectations of each student in setting high, though achievable standards to meet their individual needs, that of their regular teachers (some of whom may not be made aware of this tutoring arrangement in which case I strictly maintain confidentiality) and that of their parents/guardians. I also address this point about being fully committed to their receiving the best scores possible in their examinations as an objective throughout the learning process with my thorough lesson and program preparation. This is so that I can honestly claim I've done my very best to assist them for their future well beyond their immediate formal school environment. I also consistently maintain similar principles with children with whom I work over longer periods of time belonging to younger age groups. I also strongly believe and advocate that with this supportive style of learning I willingly provide for each individual student will be given the best opportunities along with a very good foundation in their education. I likewise promote a positive learning experience for all students that they can take with them in their formative following years. I also to like allow each student to develop the needed self-esteem and motivation to work to the best of their ability within the more structured context of the classroom. I do this by being encouraging and setting classwork and homework at a pace they can manage though in a way that is challenging, stimulating and interesting for each of them.
