Additional Info:	Hi! My name is Nina and I am an Oakland University graduate with a B.A. in Japanese, a minor in Studio Art and extensive study in American Sign Language (ASL) and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). I have tutored school age children at the YMCA, college students in Japanese and Sign Language at the Oakland University Tutoring Center and am currently tutoring ESL/EFL with the Oakland Literacy Council. I have also taught privately for 3 years and received tutor certifications from both OU and OLC by completing training courses involving curriculum planning, level evaluation, teaching ESL and Adult Literacy, tutoring college level students and other useful teaching topics. I am very patient and understanding of different learning style/paces, skilled at making personalized lessons/curriculum, flexible, fun and give extra exercise/practice in difficult topics. In a tutor-student environment, the student sets the pace and I encourage a positive outlook on learning and growth. When tutoring, I use mixed methods to help a student learn such as reading, writing, listening exercises, quizzes, conversation practice, and cultural education. I have a long list of useful resources and have a nice collection of textbooks my students are more than welcome to use during lessons. Customization of lessons to appeal to all different types of learners is very important to me and I strive to make my students happy with their learning experience.
