Additional Info: I am Rachel Stoesz! I am a 20 year-old Western Student with my sights set on teaching primary children. I am in the 3rd year of my Bachelor where I am double majoring in Sociology and Childhood in Social Institutions. Most people would describe me as confident, adventurous, effervescent, patient and empathetic.

Throughout my teenage years, I have obtained plenty of experience working with children. I have babysat for many families from since I was 12, in 2008. I have volunteered at the Nursery and Sunday schools at my church occasionally throughout high school. I volunteered in ages 3-5 skating lessons in 2011, and have spent time volunteering in 2013-15, in the kindergarten to grade 2 classes, that my mother works in. This experience has prepared and educated me in working with children of many ages in many situations. I have developed an understanding of children and the skills that I require to work easily and efficiently with kids.

My most valuable experience was when I was in a peer tutoring course at RMC High school. The grade 12 course is designed as follows: a grade 12 student (me), chooses a grade 9 or 10 class of interest (Applied math was my choice), and assists the teacher in that class for the entire semester. As a peer tutor my daily duties were providing group and individual homework assistance to students, helping with classroom control when needed, and leading small discussions or warm-ups. Additionally, I created my own lesson plan from the content of 3 math lessons throughout the course and taught it to the class for one period. This provided me with an incredible learning tool to improve each time that I taught! As a peer tutor I grew in the areas of initiative, flexibility, patience and communication.
